ABOUT US
In July 2013, Balfour Beatty Student Accommodation (BBSA) was awarded the contract to design, build, finance and operate the Holyrood Student Accommodation and Outreach Centre Project by Edinburgh University. The project will deliver 1,165 student bedrooms on two sites within the world heritage area of the city of Edinburgh, at a capital cost of £64 million.
The Holyrood Development is being provided specifically for overseas post-graduate students and the University has a very clear vision to provide a mixture of accommodation types and rental levels to suit the diverse needs of this group of residents. The Outreach Centre will include conference, teaching and catering facilities for continuous professional development.
BBSA will invest 100% of the required equity in the project whilst senior funding has been obtained through a bond financing. Balfour Beatty will provide construction and hard FM services to the concession over 50 years. The first phase of the buildings will be ready for occupation in September 2014, with the remaining two phases delivered for the commencement of the following, two academic years.
